Calliope AI IDE 1.6.7 Released: Rapid Cadence Continues

author image

Another Patch in the 1.6 Line

We shipped Calliope AI IDE v1.6.7 today — the latest in the rapid patch cadence we have been maintaining on the 1.6 minor line through May. The 1.6 line started on May 1 with v1.6.0, picked up 1.6.5 on May 6, 1.6.6 on May 8, and now 1.6.7 on May 17. Roughly weekly cadence, sometimes faster. Real-world feedback in, real-world fixes out.

This is the operating rhythm we want to keep on the workbench. The product moves when users tell us it should move; we ship when the ship is ready; we do not batch fixes into quarterly releases that get tested once and shipped once.

Why the Rapid Cadence Matters

We covered the v1.6 line and its companion releases (Lab 1.4, Chat Studio 1.1, DB Loadr 1.3) in the earlier May desktop workbench roundup . The picture has not changed; the version numbers have.

The Workbench Pillar, In Practice

The Calliope AI IDE is one of the four desktop apps in the Workbench pillar of the three-pillar private AI architecture . Free downloads. BYOK to any major provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Ollama for local models, and more). Multi-provider model picker. Offline-capable for everything the editor does; AI features active when keys are configured.

The IDE works for individual developers on their own laptops, and it also runs as a cloud-hosted workbench inside customer’s own cloud for enterprise users — the same UX, federated identity, governed model access, audit chain inside the customer’s perimeter. The local mode is free forever; the cloud mode is part of the private AI platform stack .

Download

The v1.6.7 release is available on the releases page . macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows x64, Linux x64 and arm64. AppImage, .deb, .zip — whichever fits your platform best.

If you are already running an earlier 1.6 build, the update is a drop-in. If you are coming from 1.5.x or earlier, the change list since 1.5 includes the AWS Bedrock credential chain expansion, JupyterHub native-sharing rewrite, context-window management improvements, and a long tail of polish from the rapid-cadence patches.
